It has never been heard that akra caused the piston melt or the engine broke down.
I think there were another reasons why that situation made, for example, the bolt of the #3 connection rod broke and it came out. You had better check those.
Or insufficient octane value might melt the piston head.
In Japan, there is the notice on the tank cover that the engine needs high octane over 95. Has not been there the sticker with which the cautions are indicated on your 12R?
I fear whether 89-91 octane was too low for your 12R to run quickly.
